Event - 1969 Comes To Year 1

3 February 2012

As part of their topic on Outer Space, the children of Year 1 have really enjoyed learning about the 1960s.

We have been lucky enough to welcome in a range of visitors, including our very own governors, to share their memories, experiences and stories of the era. We are very grateful for all of the support shown during this topic as it really has helped to bring it to life.

On Friday 3rd we rewarded the children's hard work with a 1969 party which included authentic games, food from the time and a viewing of the space landing. As you can see they well and truly looked the part!

Mrs Gorton showed us the things that her own Mother had kept from her 21st birthday celebrations in 1969. She also taught us to jive, which was more tiring than it looked!

Mr Hall had a range of cameras and even a projector to share with us. We could really see how technology had changed!

Mrs Hood let us have a look in her original style mini. We thought it was great!

And who could forget Big Hippy Dave and his tales from the time?

We were not so sure about the food...

...but we did prefer the pudding!

We enjoyed playing Kerplunk which was created in the 1960s.

And who can resist Twister!
