Year 2

In Year 2 we continue to develop your child’s learning experience through an inspiring and enriching curriculum.

We provide a stimulating learning environment which emphasises our philosophy of learning together. In addition to our classrooms we have a shared reading area, creative zone and areas for group work. The children love using these areas and having the opportunity to work with peers from both classes.

Our curriculum is designed to enable you to share in your child’s learning at home. During every topic your child will be given a homework challenge grid where they are able to choose an activity to suit their interests. We really value this work and share it as a class.

As a parent of a Year 2 child you can support them by hearing them read every day. This can be any form of text, not just their school reading book. You can also enhance their mathematical skills by encouraging them to understand how maths can help them in their daily lives i.e. paying at a shop, reading the time etc.

We promote organisation and independence, encouraging the children to take responsibility for their own belongings and being prepared for their learning.
