Event - Year 4 Trip To Hartlebury Museum
11 October 2007
For their topic on World War 2 Year 4 visited Hartlebury Museum to learn about life in a World War 2 classroom.
Everyone dressed in the type of clothes worn in the 1940's and carried a box for a gas mask.
We learned about how to put on a gas mask quickly and safely. |
This was declared to be 'great fun'! |
|
The children experienced lessons children from Wartime Britain would have had. |
We found that the British flag is made up of three separate flags and only has one correct way to be flown. |
|
We found out what an evacuee would have taken with them in one tiny suitcase. |
The chidlren dressed up, tried out the old fashioned tools and practised work that needed to be done in the 1940’s kitchen. |
|
Some of the pupils loved trying on the army uniforms. |
We cleaned these shoes until they shone. |
|
These children practised skipping while chanting a 1940’s rhyme. |
Everyone in Year 4 agreed it was an excellent way to experience life as a child during the war years. |
