Event - Remembrance Day: Year 4 Poppy Man

November 2007

As we had been learning so much about World War II we thought it would be good to do something different for Remembrance Day.

We had seen how this year, instead of the normal picture of the poppy, the Poppy Appeal were using an image of a man made out of poppies.

We thought this was a great idea and something that we could do ourselves.

In our art lessons we made lots of different types of poppies. we used felt, tissue paper, paint, stamps and collage to make as many poppies as we could.

We had to carefully cut out our poppies before we could stick them on. "You have to be really careful to hold them down so they stick," said Sophie from 4W.

We took the school skeleton, Fred, and put some clothes on him so that we could attach our poppies. It took lots of poppies to cover him!
